    Audi TT 180PS Differences

    HI

My mate's girlfriend has just bought one of these against my advice . Does anybody know if there is any mechanical difference between the 180ps and the 225ps?? or is it just a case of different mapping..Also She assures me it is a 180 but it has twin exhaust and i thought only the 225 and 3.2 models had these. Thanks in advance, any gen greatly appreciated...

    Dave

you can get them relatively easily for tt's but 180's only have a single exhaust generally

speak to a dealership and give them the engine number, they will confirm it for you

Mechanically they are more or less the same car, however if you plan to up the power at a later date teh 180bhp is more restrictive, you could probably take it to around 210-225 but not any higher, where as you can get 300bhp from the 225 version easily (my mates just bought an S3 so he;s been genning me up on them).....the 180 does come with a single tailpipe as standard, but it could easily have had the double fitted.

Parts are readily availalbe for the 180 engine so shouldnt have any problems acheiving 225

Think the Difference is just the mapping and maybe a few other tweeks here and there... Ross (Techie) Might be able to tell you for sure

Either way they've got themselves a Cracking engine Pity it's in the wrong car

There are differences between the two engines, turbo, manifold, downpipes, block and pistons are different, plus the 225 engine has twin intercoolers.

well going by the Octavia RS and Leon Cupra etc, a simple remap should be good for around the 225 mark iirc...
