My mk3 is pushing it's luck with me. Theres loads of little niggles that constantly occur and I'm getting totally fed up with it. On the outside its nice, paint is good, and I like the Cesaro spec etc. I do want to lower it and fit my 16's I've had for over a year!
However theres problems with the engine, it sounds 'rough' when accelerating, like it's overfueling (possibly timing apparently?), engine temp gauge doesn't work properly (thermostat/sensor gone), it's leaking coolant (god knows what that could be, its under the os of the engine!?) and the worst problem is clicky/creaky rear drums when braking which no one including VX can seem to fix < that is the real pain at the moment.
I wanted to fit my suspension kit and wheels this week, all being well, ready for , but all the above problems I've got with it and the fact I'm a student on a very tight budget means I'm wondering whether I should not bother, and maybe give it a basic service but keep it as it is and sell asap and try to find a decent mk2 instead, as I liked my old one and have got a great project idea for one.
What do you reckon, is it worth persevering with it and get it too the standard I want or abandon it and concentrate on the mk2 idea?
