    £1000 worth of ICE...where should i start?

I wanna start building up the ICE in my car but i dunno where to start...my long term target is to spend around £1000 but i cant do it all in one go cos i aint rich enough but i wanna add to it bit by bit...

Excluding the headunit because i've already got a pioneer 8600mp, what sounds would you buy with £1000??

I'm after front door speakers, rear DOOR speakers, front tweeters, sub/s, and probably 2 amps...(1 for the front speakers, and 1 for the sub/s)

I prefer clarity over loudness...but obv loud is nice...is my budget realistic?

btw i dont mind buyin this stuff all second hand

    sound quality

I have three vibe amps which are brand new but for a few slight sratches 2 four channel and one mono block BB3 and MB4 these all provide the sound quality and loudness as there is about 2800 from the mono and enough from the other two, which are both 4 channel. I am after £500 for the lot which leaves you loads to aquire the speakers. the reason that I am selling as i got them and the fitter marked them so as I have have a show quality I wanted it to be perfect.
if you are interested you can either email me rob@okaneinfareham.freeserve.co.uk or ring on 07816 521819 I can bring them too PV if you are interested postage next day is £25 which I will cover if you want them www.vibeaudio.co.uk

dr_shabzzz, dont forget sound deadening unless you already have it. not worth spending loads on a system if its going to vibrate tons, as mine does at the moment

My ICE in the boot has came to over £600 already (2 Alpine V12 Power Amps and 2 Alpine Type-R subs).

So for the other £400 you could get two sets of Alpine Type-R components (£200 for two pairs) and with the other £200 you could spend on sound deadening, Power Caps or perhaps just getting it installed.

Sound deadening is a must i know...even with standard speakers everything shakes like a rap video girl!

I've heard vibe amps are good...are the one's robokn selling worth the money?

Turbo scott...so your sayin to go alpine all the way around?

I'm assuming the best setup in this price range is gunna be built in head unit amp for rear speakers, 2 channel amp for front speakers + tweeters, mono/2 channel amp for sub/s??

turbo_scott, i think you are going for a similar setup to me. im going to be having 2, or 4 12" alpine subs, probably the type-r's, and not sure what amps. Are those the best suited alpine amps for those subs?

I always like things to pair up, the way I see it, Alpine test their subs on Alpine amps ... not on Sony/Kenwood/Vibe etc amps... and vice versa...

The amps I'm running (got the other to be installed on Tuesday) are:

    Alpine MRD-M301 V12 Mono Power Amps runnign 350w * 2Ohms RMS

    And the subs are:

Alpine 12" Type-R's capable of handling 300w RMS.

I've heard many different amp and sub combo's from Audiobahn, Sony, and the cheapo cheap Vibe Active subs (Amp built in) and personally the Vibes are awful and u can hear them turn on and off, the Sonys do NOT give out the power they state, Audiobahn's are very good though.

I listened to alot of subs and amps before choosing mine and I think I chose correctly, the box i use is sealed NOT ported so I get nice tight deep bass, none of the boomy crap.

I think anymore than 2 of these subs would ruin the sound, you'd have far too much bass compared to the high pitch and mid's...

You can get more powerful Alpine amps than the MRD-M301 .. theres a 500w RMS and a 1000w RMS, but I chose to buy 2 of the 350w RMS ones and have each with its dedicated Sub.

I run my Vaux components (Soon to be upgraded to Alpine Type-R components) off a Sony M8800 head unit as it looks nicer in my dash than the Alpines, though Alpine units are a better sounding unit... (I'll admit that).

im definately going to go with the same make, one for as you say compatability etc, and two - for effect, and have been toying with the idea of 4 subs, but as you say, may sound crap. So i might take note and stick with 2.

so whats a better set up in the boot then, for arguments sake...going for 2 x 200w rms subs or 1 x 4000w rms sub of the same make/quality etc ?
