Wing Mirror smashed. Advice on fitting electric ones?

    Hi all

Someone's just smashed off my driver's side wing mirror

Was thinking about fitting some electric mirrors instead of replacing it with another manual unit (clouds with silver linings and all that).

This particularly hard to do? What do I need apart from the units themselves, the door switch and the little interior covers for the manual lever holes?

    Car is a 52 reg Mk4 SXi 5 door

There is a pretty good 'how to' guide on this site.

    Here's a link... http://www.astra-sport.co.uk/fitelectricmirrors.pdf

It lists the part numbers for everything you'll need

check your car has the loom before you go out and bye the mirrors.

this can be done by removing the drivers side door card and see it there are two unsed plugs.

90% of astras have the loom but there are a few that don't as some people on here have found out after buying all the bits

Ok, where abouts are these plugs? I've just taken apart most of the door to have a look. Got to the annopying bit where u have to unclip it all the way round and was hoping i could just pull back the top part and look down but can't see anything. Where should the plugs be exactly if they are there?

    Exclamation

Pull the interior mirror covers of first, you can usually see them by looking down inside the door card. If you can't see them it does'nt mean they're not there as they sometimes drop down. If not then you have to take the whole card off. I was an unlucky one! I have no loom inside the doors for this! And looking inside the weather proof multiplug where the door hinges there is a couple of pins missing (on both parts of the multiplug) compared to others fitted with electric mirrors.
    Hope this helps.

Damnit. Got everything off apart from that strip along the top. That just won't budge. Can't get it out of the clips for some reason. Couldn't see the plugs anywhere, so unless they are hiding behind the plastic sheet this plan won't be going much further
