    Latest "mod"

Ever noticed how the "white" dials aren't very white?
Well, took to modding today, the speedo and the tacho are a "yellower" white but the fuel and temp guage are "brilliant white"... it does have a small "hot" spot to the left of the tacho and right of the speedo but it's hardly noticable! I used 5 LED's to get the effect, the mileage display i didn't do as it needs a VERY bright LED... The tacho/speedo use 16,000mcd led's and the fuel/temp uses 3mm 5,000mcd ones. Works a treat Very happy. I had to upgrade the globe behind the mileage display because the old one wasn't bright enough, lol
What do you think? Blue ones didn't work well at all

The picture makes the centre look a lot worse than it actually is, it doesn't look that bad at all in real life!

[edit - might i add i soldered them directly to the board rather than making up holders, too much hassle!]

looks cool had toyed with the idea of white leds in my last astra, however never got round to it in the end. you should change the mileage readout to red - white and red - very VXR

That's the finalised version!! I HAD to use red for the heater controls as due to the coloured backing it doesn't work with blue at all But i used red, (with blue lighting up when the switch is on), and a blue LED for the "blue/cool" portion of the dial (as the red doesn't light up the blue!).... Works really well, the mfd and dials actually show through white..... the odometer doesn't show white yet as there is an orange backing thing or something in it that i'll have to get around to removing!
What does everyone think? All the led's are soldered in and i used 8 3 mm high brightness reds in the heater controls! Much easier to get the right effect... I know a lot of you have done it over there but not many people at all have done this here!

    What do you reckon?

A "how to" may be possible...... I've worked out now i need an extra led for the centre part - it needs 2 LED's in the centre! But i'll look at something if i can for you
