    turbo diesel

    im having a blonde moment lol can you fit dump valves on turbo diesel engines?

    yes you can, but i have heard they slow diesels down. They rely on loads of air so it would just slow it down.

    yeah, totally pointless on diesels other than making the noise

    my bosses diesel (1.7cdti) mk 5 astra has a dump valve on it as standard, a definate shwoosh when u let off the accelerator! sureley they wouldnt have done that if it loses power??!?!?!?
    Fitted options: Folding mirrors, cruise control, dual tone horn, remap.

    depends on the set-up

    i have been told of a guy who fitted a DV to his 115PD bora and it helped with power a little, but certainly didnt loose power

    Im getting one fitted to my 1.7 td van soon.
    also my mate who has a 1.7 DTI van has one fitted as does a friend of his with a 2.0 DTI van. Neither of them noticed a lack in power after fitted.
    We all have them just for the noise.

    You can but just make sure you get a diesel specific one otherwise they really don't sound cool!

    Dump valves on diesel cars sound a bit odd....make it sound like a Scania truck. Plus as has been said, they don't enhance performance. Mainly because most turbo diesels are low blow anyway.

    it's 100% due to the fact that you don't get the turbo stall on a diesel, that you get on a petrol that the dumpvalve is there to stop.
