    MOT Failed

Took my car for Mot and before the guy had even looked at the car he said it had failed for an illegal number plate.

How do you guys cover this do you just swap your plates over beofore the mot.

My Plates are stuck on with double sided tape so would it be easy to just drill and screw the plates on so that it is easier to swap them over

just get some velcro pads, stick your legal plates over the "show" plates for the MOT.

My ones 'illegal' but in a subtle way and its never failed an MOT.

I would of thought they would turn a blind eye as long as it wasn't something silly.

Was the guy just being a **** or is it very 'illegal', i.e dodgy font, colours spacing etc?

very subtle text change and reads H14 JPT (extra space between 4 and j) you can easily read the plate at distance and no mistake can be made on the letters.

I just think the guy was finding something to fail it for as everything else past ok

if he passed the plates and there was a vosa guy out side then seen the car drive off with a pass that would be 6 points on the testers mot licence and 60 points on the garages licence and if they got coult a few time could cause him to losse his job or the testing station to close down.
