I am not holding much hope that anyone can help. But i am so desperate to get it fixed i am goan try.
Today when i got ready to drive home from coll i started my car up (2000 W plate 1.8 Astra SXi) and it's revs went up to 2500RPM when i turned the key then driped down to about 1250RPM where it idled. Its been doing this for over a year. I tap the accelerator and it drops to 800RPM like it should. I set off and my car feels like is tied to a tree. I floor it in first, no breaks on and it doesnt move i am crawling along at about 4MPH. It felt so slugish like a blockage cos no fule was getting to the engine. Its done this a few times before when i set of either being slugish or jerky.
The same thing happend to my old car a 1992 J plate Ford Escort XR3i and in the end its electrics burnt out. I thought it was a fracture in the fuse board cutting out the fule pump circuit as this is a comon fault on Fords. But now its happenig to my Astra.
I am blaming the problem on fitting ICE. It was fine in both cars till i fitted my Amp. The Amp isnt in the astra i ony attached it and then took it out the same day but its still fried summot. Possibly the fuse board?
The throttle bodies dont need cleaning as it has had new ones less than a year ago and that didn't fix the problem.
Over 2 years of going to various garages and no1 can fix it. Nothing show up on the diagnostics and no1 can understand how fitting the amp would cause the problem. I am sure thats what it was as it was fine before and then straight after the problem started in both cars.
I hope someone out there can help me fix it cos i hope i havnt fried my Astra as it should still have a lot of life in it.
