    c20let cutting out

    ma wee brothers just fitted a dump valve to his motor, ever since fitting it the car keeps cutting out, read somewhere that its to do with the dump valve and the air flow meter, anyone know how to fix this? its getting embarrassin at the traffic light grand prix lol

    sounds like he has an air leak... or fitted it wrong.


    take it off... if it cures the problem.... then try fitting it again.

    As ben says, remove it and see if the problem is cured.
    Is it the correct type of DV for the engine?

    cant take it off, had to cut the hose that runs to the inlet to fit the t piece, its a universal dump valve

    take out the dump valve and stick a piece of broom handle in thier should block the hole perfectly........ then try it!

    found this bit of info:

    There is a general snag though: the dump valves are after the AFM, so the air that is dumped has already been metered. Since it has been accounted for, it's share of fuel has been set aside by the ECU. But that air mass has been vented into oblivion, creating a rich condition for the remaining air that has to live with the extra fuel. With some dump valves this is a serious problem and the engine won't even run properly. Double-piston DVs respond much quicker and are much better in that respect.

    SOme DVs are not good for Vauxhalls, but TBH, I don't think they would cause the problem described here.
