After thinking long and hard about how i should do my boot build, i finally decided i wanted it fibreglassed, and that i'd do it myself, rather than pay someone else to do it. That way, even if its crappy, i can say "ive done it".
Anyway, spent quite a bit of time reading up about what to do, to make sure i did it right, went to the local car shop today and brought a few bits and bobs to get me going. All i wanted todo on this first attempt is to see if i could actually fibreglass. It wont actually be used at all.
Heres some pics incase anyone else decides to give it a try:
Had to firstly tape up the area, this took ages, but had to make sure i didnt get any on the carpet, because carpet + fibreglass resin, definately dont mix!
Once i'd done that, i put a layer of resin mixed with hardener on the chosen area, and then slapped down the fibreglass matting. I then had to push the brush (with the resin/hardener) hard into the matting to ensure the fibreglass went all the way through..
This is the whole area needed fibreglassed:
Just waiting for it to dry now.. and recover; even with the proper ventilation mask, i still feel dizzy
I know its not very interesting yet, but as it progresses, hopefully it will get a little better!
