    Will my lights dim?

I currently have an Alpine MRD-M301 V12 Power amp hooked upto an Alpine Type-R 12" Sub ... in my bedroom is another Alpine MRD-M301 V12 Power amp & Alpine Type-R 12" sub...

If I connect this other Amp & sub up so both are running and providing enough bass to smash my rear window ... whats the chances of my headlights/instrument panel dimming as the bass pounds?

Will I require another battery? uprated battery? Power cap?

I have a 500 watt amp and a 500 watt 12" sub in the car, and when I put it up very loud the lights dim. Only about 15% dimmer but it would be more noticeable with big power.

A power cap is supposed to stop it, but I've never used one myself.

Another option I think is a leisure (or jelly?) battery for the car, like the ones used in caravans. They supply the power quicker so your lights dont dim and so ur subs dont lose power at a big beat.

Well mine will be 700w RMS into the subs (350w each) so perhaps I should look into stopping my lights dimming ... more money needs spent

yes your lights probably would dim a bit but here are a few ways to eleminate or reduce it.

    Bigger battery.
Bigger earth lead from battery to chasis
Really good earth point in the boot for the amp. you need to make sure the connection is pure metal to metal so clear all the paint off the area with a grinder or dremel type device.
up rate alternator to a higher capacity one.
    Power Cap.

I like the "Earth to chassis with no paint idea" cos that means less £££

I'll have a word with the local I.C.E. store about it
