    Petrol consumption

Just wondered if getting 55 miles out of a tenner worth of fuel is normal. I used to get 90+ before i done the derestriction and fitted a new irmscher backbox. Ive got a 1.6 16v mk4 sport.

Funny thing is, when i got in the car this afternoon the needle was where it usually is after 50 miles. It was down in the red last night but the fuel light wasnt on. Ill see how it goes the next couple of times then ill let vauxhall loose on it.

the astras got a funny fuel sender i think, it takes a reading and your gauge will read so much for a while, then next time u look youve got 1/8th of a tank more, i wudn't worry fillin up till the fuel light flashes. also u get betta fuel consumption from a full tank!!

    I get about 85miles from a tenner.
    1400 8v Mk3.

85.9p a litre standard BP unleaded.

Works out about 33mpg i think, which isn't too bad, but could be better.
My mk3,117K, and the engine is still going strong

I made a spreadsheet which calculates all my MPGs an stuff. All I do is input the cost and amount of petrol I fill it up with, and how many miles i got out of the previous tank.

I'm averaging about 330 miles on tesco unleaded, and 380 miles on Shell Optimax. That's going from chock-full to flashing-lights-empty.

I'm driving a 1.6 16v sxi, derestricted airbox is the only engine mod.

I got 50 miles out of a 1/4 tank 2 weeks ago, going to the Edinburgh cruise chasing the Skyline's at 115mph. Needle went down fast on that one :O

What I can't understand is my calibra redtop (150 bhp) seemed much more better on the petrol compaired to the astra. I once did Luton to Barnstaple in 1/4 of a tank and the same coming back (using all 'A' roads) and I also did Luton to Edinburgh in 2/3 of a tank (all motorway), but since I've had the astra I've been up to Scotland twice and on both occasions needed to fill up about 50 mile south of Edinburgh.
