    Red face engine burning oil

hello evryone, ok where do i start. i have a 1999 astra 2.0l sri 65k on clock. for about 6months now, on startuo, there is a puff of blue/white smoke from the exhaust. it also goes through a lot of oil. i started the engine the other day with the bonnet popped, and through the gap at bottom of windscreen i spotted a puff of smoke come from what i think is the head seal??? also, when i am stopped in traffic, i get exhaust fumes coming through the heater vents. if any of u good peeps could give me any pointers, it would be much apprciated, cos i get the feeling this could cost me a fortune. could it be time for a new motor???
    thanx

i thought with the head gasket, you get oil in the water or vice versa, is this not always the case bud? there does seem to be some loss ov power also.

nope, its as clean as hell. the water is still coloured by antifreeze & there is nothing on the oil filler cap. i have noticed that there is oil all around the front of the engine, that starts beneath the seal i mentioned where the smoke comes from. i mentioned about the head gasket to him & he said he would expect oil 2 be pi*!ing out if that had gone? but he doesnt seem interested in followin up the problem. should i get a second opinion buddy??

Water and oil can be clean but it can still be the head gasket IIRC.
It depends on where the break in the gasket is, the break may be letting water/oil into the cylinder, which is then being burnt.
    White smoke is water burning.
    Blue is oil burning.
My mk3,117K, and the engine is still going strong
shame about the car shell tho, lol.
