    Snotty Bits!!

    How do you replace the grease filled ball joints in the steering setup? Namely the ones on the track rod end and the one on the hub link...

    They certainly don't look like they come out too easily.. But they burst and a couple were dry when I changed my suspension, so I need to replace them.
    97 P reg Astra 1.6 8v X16SZR, and yes I have a Haynes manual

    The bottom arm one you have to remove the bottom arm, drill out the rivets, and then fit a new one with bolts/nuts in place of rivets.
    You can buy the complete replacement kit.

    The tie rod one i think you unscrew the tie rod end from the tie rod, counting the number of threads showing, then you refit the new tie rod end and screw it back into the tie rod, to the correct number of threads it was originally.
    My mk3,117K, and the engine is still going strong
    shame about the car shell tho,lol.
