    slight problem with our ford

apart from the fact it was built by ford the girlfriends KA has developed a fault

bassically the power from the battery keeps cutting out

ever now and then it won't start there is no power coming from the battery the starter motor doesn't even attempt to turn

also the radio keeps lossing all its presets

so the power from the battery is defineatly being lost

first thought where that the battery is knackard but this isn't happening all the time only about 40% of the time all the other times it starts first time.

is it likly to be the battery that needs replacing or is it something else that could be causing this

the battery is only two years old. last time it went it wouldn't start the car at all it just went and that was that we had to bump start the car every time we wanted to use it till we could get to the garage on the monday morning to get a new battery.

Could get the alternator tested to see if its it charging the battery properly or just partially (spelling).

A common fault on low-end batteries is intermittant shorting - usually noticable on colder or damper days.
why do today what you can...... I'll finish this later

    cheers guys

the little green light is on which suggests the battery is fully charged

when it starts it starts within seconds of turning the key so alternator is charging the battery and there is plenty of charge when it works

so looks like its a new battery time and we aint going back to ford for a battery £50 for a battery that only lasts two years is pretty crap

what are varta (i think thats right) batteries like as there is a varta stockest fairly local was concidering going there as i aint going back to ford

£45-£50 they charged us and now its dead about two years later is crap

Tried cleaning the battery terminals??? If there is any build up or the earth strap (to the engine/body) is loose then that will cause the same things, wiggle the battery terminals and see if they need tightening
