    Fiberglass Installs..

Im debating if to do my new install in fibreglass, i love the effect it gives etc, but how exactly does it work? Ive used fibreglass before, but how do they get it so smooth, to get a perfect shiny paint finish etc?

If anyone knows of any how to's, or any fibreglass install articles etc showing the process, id be very grateful

All I know is that once you've glassed it - with say p40 - put a layer of filler - p38 - over the top as you can sand that stuff silky smooth. Then prime and spray it.

You can also make frames for the enclosures and cover them with fleece (available from cloth shops) add resin hardenener to the fleece and it sets solid as.

Lots of sanding and lots of filling with body fillers, the lots more sanding.
Then get it painted by a professional bodyshop.

To get a perfect finish, it can take forever.

Basically, you make an MDF frame with a ring for the sub to sit in to - leaving room at the back for the basket and cabling.

Staple acoustic carpet over the shape then build it up with glassfibre sheeting then smooth out with filler.

    Takes hours of work.
