    new steering wheel

Got a sports steering wheel from the scrappers with the stereo controls on and I know its pretty much a straight swap for my LS one - but... When I take the airbag off and there's like a plug/nut thing over the top, do I need the specific torx socket (which I havent got) or is it easy enough to use a pair of pliers/wrench thingy to take off? And on the one socket on the steering wheel, will the corresponding socket from the steering column be there for the stereo controls, or will I be out of luck?

I've got the torx for the airbag - I read in haynes that you just unplug the battery, wait for a little bit then take the airbag off, how do you mean I'd need tech to get the keys out?
