How do you deal with tailgaters?

Just wondering, ive changed my method after tonight. I was pottering along at 35 in a 30 and a BMW 318Ci came screaming up my ass - i mean he was probably going 70mph+ and then braked at the last minute sitting about 3cm from my bumper.

I used to either jab the brakes a few times or give them some sort of abuse, but i figure thats what they are looking for - some sort of reaction. So i did bugger all and he got bored and turned off - maybe to move on to his next victim.

I do hope that the next person is some sort of phyco that kicks his head in, but it wont be me - i dont think its worth it.

    Anyway, what do you do?

    There are a few tricks.

I slow to the speed limit - and stick to it.

If the driver looks impatient and starts to look for the over take - either add 10 mph to my speed - or this is the naughty one - stick my right indicator on.
why do today what you can...... I'll finish this later

I tend to pootle - but will brake last minute down to speed limits and dont hang around at junctions and roundabouts to try and put space, and maybe another car, between.

I make sure I know the car behind is slower ... they usually are.

Then I slow down under the speed limit ... drop a few gears in the process. Wait until the other lane is clear, wait for mr impatient to make an overtaking manuever and then i blitz em ... ... then enjoy watching em pull back in and try and catch me
