    Bump strips - Help needed

Have been looking through old threads looking for information on removing bump strips however all the posts seem to be regarding replacement colour coded strips. Is there any way to fill in the holes that are left after the strips are removed so that the doors are smooth with no holes, i'd assume a body shop would do this, if so, does anyone know what kind of price we are looking at for it to be done? I know that colour coded bump strips can look great but a smooth door without any strips appeals to me more and it is a little less common than the colour coded option.

    Cheers.

    Allan.

There are two ways to smooth the side of the astra G. When you remove the bump strips you are left with holes as you have said but also a groove along the car. Some people leave the line on, others smooth the whole side of the car.

To remove just the holes is fairly straight forward to do, as its a case of welding the holes and filler to make flat. To remove the groove as well is the same but a lot more filler is used and a larger 'band' is put done the car to lose the groove all together (about 30-40cm). Both can be failry tricky to do without leaving ripples down the side of the car, but good recomended bodyshops car more than capable. Obviously to lose the groove will cost more than just the holes.

In either case the main cost is the painting, as you need to paint the full sides of the car. So its maybe best to have it done with lots of other mods IE full kit, as you wont need to piant the car twice which equals less labour.

    hope that helps
