    I Pod and Alpine

Apparently you can controll an I Pod from an Alpine stereo (change tracks and albums ect)

I have the Alpine CDA-9812RB and wanna know if this will work with it, i can't find anything on the net to say it'll do the above with my stereo.

    Any ideas?

I think you will find that by adding the KCE-401 ipod adapter it will work, as according to Alpine the headunit is ready for Ipod.

Personally after using the Denison unit, I will be giving it a miss in future.

I have the full Alpine / iPod setup. It works really well, but it is very hard to go through 100s of artists on the headunit. Best setup some play lists instead.

You will need a 2004 or 2005 HU for it to work - check out the MP3 section of www.caraudiodirect.co.uk as I think they list all compatable models there.

Can you not upload the songs to the ipod in folders ? or does it have to be single songs?

Sorry but thats a bit gay really.

Say i bought the 40gig i pod and filled it full of songs then i've got to flick through the thousands of songs that it'd have on it just to get to one track, or i could spend ages setting up a playlist !!

Don't think they've cracked it quite yet, will stick with my music in folders on CD's for the stereo.

Nick - It works better than folders, but it only really works on the bottons and dial on the iPod. The Alpine tried to do this, but it is too slow.

You can browse by album name, artist name, genre or playlist.

would possibly have to disagree with mikewarner on this one , it works well if you know how to use it effectively , and when set up properly its as quick as one would need , and it doesnt take long to set up specific playlists on the pod , an excellent bit of kit and something that will be staying in my car for a long time indeed , sorry to have conflicting views , cheers mike
