Carried over from the Z-Let forum, I have made a digital air temp gauge and here's an update:
Oh yes, prototype no 1 is fitted into my Coupe and it's doing exactly what I wanted it to do., so I am very pleased.
As it's only fitted to test it (sticky pad style with wires all over the shop) I'll wait to take a picture until I have fitted it properly.
The initial tests suggest that it's accuracy compared to Tech 2 is within 0.5 Deg C, so I am well happy considering it's sample rate is every 1 sec!
I'll let you know how you can get your mits on one soon once I have sorted out some prices from the suppliers, but it's going to be much cheaper than the one from R&B motorsport (£42-£4.
The unit is 45 mm x 25 mm, LCD display to 0.1 accuracy, back lit in blue. There will be two wires to connect (+&-) and the temp probe to stick wehere ever you want it to read the temp from (Place inside the air pipe for induction temps near the plenum).
They have an obvious use in an turbo charged car, but can be used in any car for the following uses:
* Outside air temp
* Amp temp (for the ICE lovers)
* Air intake temp (Turbo & N?A - how does an induction kit affect the air temp in your car?)
Plus no doubt a few more uses for those of your with the imagination to think of them!
