    3yr service, cambelt & MOT prices....

    2002 1.6 sxi 5dr.

    Horns Vauxhall - Stockport.
    Service - £120
    Cambelt - £220
    MOT - £42

    total = £382

    Victoria Garage Vauxhall - Leigh (lancs)
    Service - £89
    Cambelt - £108
    MOT - £42

    total = £239


    Bleedin' £143 difference!!

    now I knew dealer prices varied but this takes the Pi*s!!

    Wow, that's a big difference. Can't beleive the Leigh garage is offering them prices, they're pretty competitive.

    Is the £89 for a major service or a interim service?

    you can get your MOT done for ~£20 at some places, i'd shop around for that if i was u

    Yeah I know - its a main service - he said he'd do it a special price!!!??

    tiny bit sceptial though as Horns said its all computer menu priced, whereas the Leigh lad seemed just to think the prices up!! I've got his name though and will hold him to it!!!

    make sure its the proper service, i looked at my service book on the weekend and checked it and my spark plugs have never been changed!!!
    so i changed them my self @ 66k !!! they are surposed to be changed @ 40k

    car goes so much better now as the other ones were worn away loads!!

    Thye prob were done at the 40k service, but the dealers very rarley make a note of anything else in the service book than the service stamp.

    when i had mine done it was @ a reg vardy nissan main dealer (reg vardy had half price MOT's on at the time, so was £19.99). At a local garage I can get it done for £25

    the plugs i pulled out were bosch super twin electroid.
    and they were worn loads!!!!!
    rounded tips, squared electroid, and the gaps were about 4-5 mm

    where the NGK twin electroid from halfords are 1mm gap, performance and engine sound has improved.

    i checked the invoice and no spark plugs are on it!
    service's i had were 15k(yr1), 30k(yr2) and 50k(yr3).

    I put my Mk4 through MOT, full service and timing belt for £140. It wasn't a dealer that did it.

    6th Vauxhall (4th Astra) in 10 years...plus a couple of other sheds...
