Question New to amazon, is it dodgy??

ebay is full of dodgy scum, been looking at a camera on amazon for a while the price has been dropping over the last few weeks.

Amazon don't have any stock of their own, but other sellers advertise their stock on there.

Is this going to be just as dodgy as ebay, ie second hand/reconditioned stock advertised as new??

    I just don't trust people.

Anyone else bought from amazon when its another persons stock??

I bought a book there, it was about £40 new, or £9 from this other seller on Amazon. I went for the cheaper one, it arrived within 2days and was in mint condition. I would deffo buy books like that again.

If you are paying a lot it might be worth reading the T&C's on Amazon's website. You do pay for it through them (iirc) so they should protect you to some extent...

cheers chaps always helpfull to hear of other peoples experiences.

the camera has gone, the guy had it up as new, but it was very cheap, suspiciously cheap.

a lot of shops ie AJ Electronics, well known around London advertise their products.

I think I'd only bother if its actual amazon stock rather than a 3rd party

Ive bought 3rd party from Amazon, to be fair nothing overly expensive, and never had any problems at all, only thing to watch out for is the postage charges some people charge.

I've bought third party from Amazon and it took ages for it to be deleivered.

In the end it's esentially the same, small companies or indivuadals selling and buying items just like Ebay, except Ebay is far more protected.

Here's something to put you off Amazon for life. My mate sold around 5 IPods on Amazong and made a truck load as you would imagine. But he never had a single IPod or the intention of getting them, he took the people's money and all that happened was he was banned from selling items. What a joke.

/\ Both of those stories above are fraund and or theft. You would think that Amazon offered some kind of buyer protection?
