Question oops, that doesn't sound good.

I was doing some extra work over the weekend for a removals company. And someone who was impressed with my car got a lift home with me. So being a bit of a show off, I thought that i would put my car through its paces. So I started ragging the crap out of my 888 along the country roads of sussex, and to be fair, the 888 was loving it. Ripping round corners and overtaking anything and everything I could. But when i got back home, there was tapping in the engine. My old man thinks its the tapplets or something, but what do you guys and gals think? And more importantly, how much is it gonna cost!?

    Cheers

I checked the oil when I got back. It was fine. I will check it when I get home tonight and see if its gone down. It was serviced about 2 weeks ago and I had a new cam belt fitted so I thought that it could take a bit of shit from my right foot. Ive got a feeling this is gonna cost a bit, isnt it? Bollox, this will teach me not to show off

you might not have to worry but do all checks in any way
some of my previous cars used to do it after a descent foot down session.
oil heats up and gets a bit thinner and the lifters starts knocking slightly.
as soon as the oil cools down it'll be better again.
if you have'nt done a service lately an oil change would also help.

    hope it's not serious!

I had changed the water pump a while ago, but that was fixed under warrenty. My astra has now done 53,000. It might have gone again I suppose.

Probably the emissions unit ticking to itself under the bonnet. IF its coming from around the airbox area check the small cylinder attached to the back. if its vibrating then its probably that

The sound is coming from the engine. We took off the oil cap and it seemed to be ticking from in there. When I rev it the ticking goes faster, so i dont think that its the engine cooling down.
