    selling your car question

OK so i know it's harder to sell a modified car because of personal taste etc.

My question is would you justify modding (having a car you enjoy, unique or not) when you know it's gonna be a hard one to sell?

Reason i ask is i am buying a another car sometime soon and i don't know whether just just leave it standard so it's easier to sell or take th risk and have a car that i can say is modded I want to mod it and i have a good idea of what to do, it's fairly traditional so it shouldn't come up against many bad opinions as it's a kind of been done and tested thing but there is only 3 i know of in the UK.

I tend to mod the mechanics and keep the bodywork standard. It looks standard to sell but goes like the hammers of hell.

I'm keeping all the parts I change so that when i'm finished with the car I can put it back to standard so it appeals to a wider market again and hopefully I can get some money back on a few bits

I've kept my original parts plus all my modding bits are optional extras anyway. Thats how I'm hoping to get round it.

Keep all the standard bits so you can change it back again once you want to sell it.

That's what I've done - I can then return the car to standard(ish) and flog off the mods to recoup some pennies

i have also kept all the standard bits so i can swap them over if need be although i want the full irmscher body kit on the car in the future so i could always sell it as an irmscher astra and wouldn't need to change it back to standard

I will flog mine as it is. A lot of the suff will never come out again and only kept a few parts but tbh I couldnt be arsed stripping it to sell the bits I would rather the car go as it is

When I modified my MK3 Astra and my Vectra SRi I never thought about the resale side, and was touch wood, lucky in what I got for the 2 of them....however after that any car I buy will be modified with stripping to standard for re-sale in mind.
