    Damn Vauxhall Alarms

    Hi All,

First time poster but always popping in for a look,

right, I have a problem with my alarm on my mkiv 2.0sri, last night the damn thing kept going off every few seconds, I unlocked the car but it kept going off,
I switched off the sensors for the inside, but it kept going off.

I took it to Vauxhall today, but, despite the fact it was going off when i left it there, they said that they could not find anything wrong, no fault codes etc.

Its not the main horn sound ( I had the "power sounder" replaced before christmas), but its more like the sirens from the old cop cars, nee naw, nee naw, etc.

I dont fancy spending another night without sleep, driving 250 miles round the
British countryside, it was the only way to shut the damn thing up!

What about ditching the original alarm for a Clifford?, can someone help?,pleeaase.

    chris

The 'nee naw' is the sound that the power sounder makes - looks like the problem lies there.

The alarm uses the main horn, but the power sounder goes off if the battery or horn are disabled somehow.

    Thanks Ffoeg,

just a quick question, Would a battery that is losing its power or not recharging correctly, set off the power sounder?, would explain why Vauxhall cant find any fault codes!, or even a bad earth point?

    Thanks
    Chris

afaik the vox alarm detects voltage changes and sets it off so a dodgy batter y could prberly do it?

The factory fit alarm on my old Laguna used to do that - turned out to be a bad connection on the battery. Car went fine, started etc, but every now and again the alarm went ape. Eventually tracked it down to a corroded battery terminal.
