    giving to charity

    Hi

    just a quick question here

how many of you donated to the asia flood appeal ?

I went to the oxfam web site and donated money through there

however now all i get is e-mails and snail mail from every other charity asking for £x amount each month to save this and that

fair enough i like to do my bit but if i gave to every one that gets sent to me i would be working for nothing

also i am pretty peed off with oxfam as i didnt get any of this before i donated to them

    opinions please

Just the way it works......they see that your a kind person....then attack you via other charity requests.

Shame they have to do that.

Best way is to donate cash ..... no comeback.

there was a box on the internet site to make sure your donation was private, I always look when I donate as my step-mother and brother in law give a lot to charity and they are swamped (upto 3-5 letters a day in the post!!) asking for money.

So I ma always very carefull to tick the correct boxes and read them, no option no money from me!

I donate to designated charities each month, through payroll. When the Asia appeal came about we had the option to submit funds to that from payroll, so there was no 'return address', just a substantial contribution from our company.

Because I already pay out my chosen charities each month, I don't dole out for the appeals that come about every week, so I don't have to deal with hassle in return
