    Failed MOT - Emissions

Just heard that my car has failed the MOT.

It has failed on high emissions.

Whats the best, easy fix to get this through?

Car has a CAT and a c20let engine.

    Any advice appreciated.

is it massivley failed - if so could it be a knackered CAT ???

If its not much over, then they could tweak it to get it just under the emissions level ???

afaik, is it not the age of the engine that is judged by emissions laws or is it the car?

    Pretty sure its the engine.

My dads Honda accord (14k only on clock) failed on emmisions to a while back. They told him to put some of that petrol treatment stuff in, give it a blast and then bring it back in. It passed too...

i'll give that a crack then...see if it passes.

Also failed on a leaking fuel filler cap - £100 worth of sparco cap that it.
I'll just bung a cheap green thing on to get the certificate.

Won't you have to pay the fee again if your car leaves the test centre? - mine had stayed in overnight - when it failed on rear brakes.
