    Washing With Meguiars Wash Mitt

I bought a meguiars wash mitt a while back but only tried it once, didn't really take to it. With all the salt that's been around this week you can imagine how dirty the car is. I'm wondering if I should try the wash mitt again, can you trust these more than a sponge to look after the paintwork when you wash the salt and grit off?

I bought one of these a few months back and what I usually do is wash the car with a sponge first(depending on how dirty it is)and then give it a finishing wash with the mitt. This seems to give the best results as the mitt tends to get into all the small areas that you miss with the sponge.

Chris - the point of using a mitt is so that you don't use a sponge which actually scratches the car.

Funny this is posted now though as I just bought a lambs wool mitt in my lunch break.

I might give it another go then, thing is it's been sat in the bag for months in the garage I hope it doesn't have anything trapped in it. I think with the car being so dirty I'll be using the two bucket method and a good hosing down to try and blast as much dirt off as I can. I worry that something will get trapped in the mitt and I won't notice it, but I suppose it's the same with a sponge.

Don't ever use a sponge, it rubs dirt into the paint causing scratches.

Any dirt on a mitt will simply go into the the pile/depth of the mitt therefore preventing scratches.

The mitt also holds more suds than a sponge making it considerably easier to clean the car.

I bought the lambs wool version, decided to use it last weekend and I was surprised by how smoothly it moved around when washing. I ended up using it like a sponge instead of shoving my hand inside!
