    Unhappy Buying Webspace

I want some webspace. Only about 50Mb or so. I dont need anything fancy whatsoever - just a simple to use FTP arrangement so I can edit my webspace whenever I want. Having my own domain would be nice, but is not essential.

    Can anyone reccomend anything cheap??
    Cheers
(PS - Im new to webhosting etc)

depending on which platform you use limits your technologies, all support html. but windows runs IIS (internet information services) which supports vbscript ASP. Linux will run apache which supports PERL, PHP etc. if you want a simple html page dont worry about it. Altho linux is generally thought of as being more stable.

have a look at this site, this is what i use http://www.ehostpros.com/hosting/hosting.html

Cheapest option is $2.99 a month, with 200mb space and 10gb bandwidth + loads of other stuff, like unlimited sub domains, unlimited pop3 email accounts, unlimited FTP accounts etc. You will have to have your domain though, as they don't provide a free name.

You are obviously new to this - so I would stick my neck out and say that a Windows server will not offer anything over Unix that you will use.

MIG runs on a Unix server and the new server we are getting next week will also be a Unix one. They are more stable and generally run faster.

For FTP use, you will not see a difference.
