Simple questions, simple answers needed :)

    Guys, simple questions.

A friend is changing the front speakers on my 2001 SRi 3 door.

I'm planning to buy some Phoenix Gold R6.5 comps as they seem highly rated.

    1) will he need the Vauxhall speaker fitting adapters? If so, could I have a link to a suitable product
    2) will these fit straight into the door without any cutting etc
    3) any alternative suggestions for speakers (please state if adapter is needed)

Thanks for the help with noob questions

Auto leads sell a speaker adaptor for the vectra/astra-98 on wards, that comes with the ring and speacker conection to the loom, I put 17cm speakers in and fitted straight in no messing around, there just like the factory adaptors.
Cheepest I found them was suprisingly halfords at 12 squid the pair.
but but mount hem on soundeadaning like dynamat it makes the difference

i'd recomend all day long that you make adaptors from mdf with a dynamat layer on both sides.. those flimsy plastic 1's are not the greatest.. no point spending money on decent speakers to lose all the quality from using crappy plastic adapters.. would you really want to mount a speaker on something with as muh strength as tin foil ?

Well i can not see any fault with using the speaker adaptors, it makes life easier fitting them , and they are pretty strongand once mounted on dynamat they sound ace, and saves fannying around making disks out of mdf.

MDF discs will be great - IF u make them properly. If not, and air leaks, then they will sound worse. Use the plastic adapters - they are made for the job and are less hassel... unless u really like woodwork!

but the plastic adapters just vibrate and flex all over the place.. they dont fit tightly and its cheaper to buy a sheet of mdf and make 20 sets of adapters than buy 1 set of the real thing.
