    Irmscher Grille and Insurance ?

    Hi,

If I put on an irmscher grille on my 2003 Sxi and had an accident would the insurance company say my insurance was void because I never told them about the grille ??

I just insured with elephant but it listed in the mod section grill/bonnet bulge and it would of been 50 more to add this which seems to much.

What do you guys reckon ??

    Cheers
    JJ

It's shouldn't, but insurance will find a way not to pay out if they can, and an undeclared grill could give them the excuse they need. Best give them a ring to check

its classed as "standard" being an irmischer grille surely? i foned my insurance company and asked if factory fitted options needed to be declared, they said not, so all my irmischer alloys, body kit etc is fine

Tell them it was either an optional extra on the car, or it came with the car when you bought it.

Don't even mention it to em, especially after the incident!!!!!! It'll be an admission! The one excuse they need not to pay out.

Either put your original back in (smash it with a hammer maybe to match the irmy one) or say nothing. Depending on the type of crash, they probably won't even notice it or look at it. If they say anything, just play dum, say it's an option from new and it was on ther when you bought it.

But I really don't think you should admit to not declaring something, especially when you've just had a crash.

If you haven't got your original I'm sure we can come to some sort of agreement!

I'm with Admiral who are Elephants sister company and their modification categories are the same.

I've declared mine under "Exterior decorative changes" then it includes my rear and front lights as well. I'm taking no chances when it comes to insurance.
