    Isle of Man visit

Just been watching old Top Gear episodes and they were taking cars to the isle of man because it has no speed limits in the rural parts.

Has anyone taken their car to the Isle of Man? Or even know about ferries and stuff to get there?

I quite fancy a trip after I get my Gsi, so I might as well plan ahead

I have been to the Isle of Man, got a quick lap in Z4 3ltr, I loved the place, My girlfriend is from there so I got the full tour. I would fully recommend it, as for Germany never been there, but at least in the Isle of Man they drive on the same side of the road as us. Plus I see lots of very fast cars out there. As for not being that big, its bigger than you think, but then again I was taking the piss out of the girlfriend by saying she must know everyone on the Island!! I went over there 3 times last year, I am off again to stay at her sisters come TT weekend.

Germany would be nice for a speed test, but all those nice twisties in the isle of man look like more fun!

Ive been to the Isle of Man as alot of my family live over there, it is quite big. The roads that have no speed limits are mainly on the mountains and have huge drops so make sure you dont bail it or you will have to deal with a few hundred feet drop. If you go tho you should go when the TT races are on as it is the best part of the year, as people come form all over Europe to see it. Other wise its dead and not really alot to do. As for getting there you will need to go via the steam packet company, takes anything from 2.5 to 4 hours depending which boat and wheather. You can travel from Liverpool or Heysham, try these links for tickets:

H i I live in the Isle of Man and I have driven in Germany, auto bahns are ok but straight roads are boring you cant beat twisty narrow roads to test your driving skills. If you need any info about the Isle of Man feel free to contact me. allyn@manx.net and for ferries to the Isle of Man www.steam-packet.com
