    stupid question BUT

    what would happen if my cam belt snapped on my 1.6 16v mk3 astra?

    i am asking for a reason but im not totally sure what would happen - can anyone shed light on it for me please?

    Depending how quickly you shut it all down, you may get away with something simple like a bent valve !

    Basically (correct me if I'm wrong) your pistons and the valves will not be in tune with each other...meaning collision...which creates damage.

    nah u are correct - basically i looked thru my records this morning and noticed its around 55k SINCE the cambelt was changed!!

    im straped for cash and need few things fixing like a new gear linkage (£180 from vauxhalls) so im thinking i might sod both off and just save the cash for my 2ltr swap as if i replace them both now its wasting cash in my eyes as they'd be ripped out in the swap!

    yeah 55k is a bit much for one belt to take methinks. perfect chance to get that 2.0 lump in there.
