    Lightbulb Problem with astra 1.4 mk3 merit starting

    ok folks needing some help with my problem
    when i try to start my car i get nothing no noise nout
    after changing the battery and starter motor on my car i still dont know whats a matter with it i can how ever start it by bump starting and this y it lead me to belive it was the battery or starter i have hit the starter with a hammer in case of sticking also i think the alternaters workin as the new battery is still going a week afterwards

    any thoerys on this would be a great help

    also i have checked all fuses and there fine and the ground to my battery and starter motor

    was it a new starter motor?

    no m8 but it works fine as i took it off a freind astra same year same model and i worked on there

    sounds like the starter switch is knackered. if you take the steering cowling off you will see it on the end of the ignition barrel. you will need to take the ignition barrel out to replace it.

    Is it not just 2 tiny grub screws that hold the switch on? (it was on my Nova)

    if it is knackered just take the starter wires out of the switch and get yourself down to maplins, get a nice shiny push switch mount it somewhere and you have push button start! should save you some money aswell, o and dont worry about thieves starting it cause you would still need the key to turn on the ignition.

    thanks 4 all the great help guy but i have found and corrected the problem due to a fault with my imboliser it did work but the part of the thob that starts the engines was shagged thanks guys
