    Wheel bearing

    I drive a 1.6 16v 3 door mk4 astra, 4 stud with abs.

I think that the front right wheel bearing has gone and i am wondering how hard they are to replace. am i right in thinking that i have to buy a hud/bearing set as it is a closed unit? if so has anyone done this and do you need your steering aligned after? where would be the best place to get one?

    cheers in advance.

IIRC it's all one unit and you shouldn't need your steering aligned afterwards, but it'd be a good idea to get it checked tho. as for fitting I've no idea as, but a haynes manual should guide you through it OK

try www.autovaux.com for genuine VX parts at decent prices

why write 3dr??? looks like 3 as in mk if glancing

anyway, the mk4 is roughly the same, the hub comes away from the struts though.

You will still need a press though for ease of job.

I was doing the rounds with thsi a few weeks ago and found that you will need to replace the full hub. Vauxhall wanted £140 for rear and £160 for front IIRC. Autovaux were more than half that price so i would use them for the hub. Never fitted them so i cant help you there.
