    Adding a Mini supercharger to a 2.2

    Looking for a little info,

I can get hold of a BMW Mini cooper s - super charger, i believe fitting this to a 2.2 would be a better choice due the the set up of the 2.2 engine, but where would it actually go??

Not a lot of space in there??

    any help?

well thanks for your response Danny - seems like a great opportunity - not costing anything for the s/c, also comes with stainless steel flanges, allowing it to be put on to any car, just need to sort the rest of myself, just struggling not sure where to start??

Not sure how they fit on the mini direct to the intake i would guess things to think about

    1. mounting plate would have to be done so it lines up the crank pully

    2. drive belts and idler arm for driving the super charger if you remove the air box and intake piping you would get more room

3.Custom intake from super charger to throttle body (if possable to do )again not sure how the mini one fits to the intake

4.Depends on how much boost you run if you need extra fueling / lower compresion pistons etc below 5/6 psi should be ok on stock internals (courtneys should be able to help out there with advise )

    5. ECU may need remap or the MAP sensor changed as its not used to seeing positive presure only vacume (again courtneys will know as they s/c vx220,s)

    any thing is possable

You guys are always very very helpful, again danny shame about the location cos the help would be greatly appreciated.

I think the mini s/c would run fairly low, and i believe the stock internals would be ok.

I think the mounting and location would be the hardest, after that its mainly pipes, and a little bit of custom fabrication right??

You know i've probably bitten off more than i can chew, and well like most don't have the money to get a garage to do it

Damn it - really wanna s/c my 2.2 ha ha

no one does anything for the astra over here

so i have to x everything by 3 to get nz dollars plus import costs duty etc what turns out to be 1000 pounds = 3000 dollars

plus the s/c for a vx220 2.2 has the intake on the batt side on a astra so would need to relocate the battery which is not to hard but again if i run into probs the whole thing would get to hard

looked into getting a s/c from the usa but again the genuine GM one is made for the us market so would need a lot of changes to work on the astra

but if i could get 250 hp with engine work may be worth it

you are in a better place than me to get help with this if needed but if you go ahead with it would like to now the out come
