    Nice Sporty Exhaust For Cheap

Hey guys, if you are wondering how to get a perfect sporty sound from your astra without spending about 150 quid then heres what i did,

i have a 1.8 sxi, so im not sure this would work on other engines.

    your exhaust runs like this

    Cat-/----Mid Silencer-------/Rear silencer.

firstly order in or go to a scrap yard and find yourself another Astra Mk4 mid section with the mid silencer. then, cut the mid silencer out of it and replace with a straight through piece of pipe. then put next to your existing mid section and connect the handles in the right places, it will then sit perfect on the original holders. you then take the mid silencer you just cut out and stick it on the end where your rear silencer should be, fasten it all up together so it now goes

    Cat/------Pipe---------/mid silencer

Turn the engine on and you should hear the beautiful sporty sound coming out.

Once its all in place and your happy with the results buy yourself a nice tail pipe for about 40 quid and stick it on the end for a nice finnish.

Mine has no mid silencer, I got a custom cat back setup similar to powerflow, I had the mid silencer removed as part of the setup and I've very recently passed an M.O.T with my 1.816v SXi

Emmisions are controlled by the ECU and Cat.

Sounds too 'botch job' for me though and I'd much rather prefer to spend the money on getting a proper one (with straight centre section).

PeteSXI - do you have any piccies of your creation - I'd seriously love to see them

It shouldn't effect emmisons (as in nasty particles/gases) tho, but god knows what it sounds, or looks, like!!!

I'd have thought that the sound would be the let down on an MOT if anything

pc plod would have a field day!!!! if the silencer is there by the manufacturer it is there for a reason not just for the sake of it!!!

in the long run there could be engine trouble!!! steer clear from this botch mod!!!

Either which way it makes no difference really !

It sounds like a bodge, more than likely looks nasty too, all for the sake of £100 for a universal backbox bolt on jobbie ??
