    Help me spend some money!

I'm about to become an owner of an '03 2.2 SRi 3 door, which has a standard stereo, needless to say the first job is to spend some money upgrading.

I have a Pioneer DEH-P77MP from my old car that I love. I have a friend who is semi-competent in being able to fit stuff, but it needs to be easy.

So the question is, given a budget of £300, what would you buy? Having read a few posts, it seems people recommend changing the front speakers, and maybe adding an amp, would this be the right thing to do? Speakers would ideally be a straight swap, rather than involving cutting etc.

Thanks for your thoughts, great forum

Go for a set of phoenix gold octane R front components and tweets. There about £100.
That leaves you £200 for a sub and amp, there's some good JBL deals about at the moment. Can get a GT4-15 JBL 12" sub, 600w amp (GTO series JBL) and box for £169, then you need a wiring kit £30.

Don't wanna plug or nothing, but that's we're doing at work (Motor World) That'll sort you right out, decent quality stuff, excellent sound blah blah blah.
    You get the idea!

Now obviously if there was any justice the whole world would have JL audio in there car!

We do Rockford Fosgate, Phoenix Gold - what do you call decent?
JBL is pretty good - I'll admit you can do better. But not for that price.
Don't even mention SPLX, that stuff makes me cringe.

Everyone has a budget, if you only wanna spend a ton, get SPLX, if you have a bottomless pit as a pocket, go somewhere independant that deals in JL that'll install it all too.

But there's no need for snobbery!

Must be one of the small shops then!

Phoenix Gold subs are just under the ton, would have one of those over 3 JBLs!

Like I said, some people have smaller budgets than others, you can get a basic system for a ton, or spend more than that just on your wiring!

Oh, and ignore peak power, it's all about the RMS.

Any comments on this package, based on the suggestions above?

    http://caraudiosecurity.com/catalog/...oducts_id+1259

If I bought the Phoenix Gold R6.5COMPS for the fronts, do I need any other equipment such as fitments etc. And a real noob question. The amp in the package above states 4 channel, then 2 x whatever + the sub, which is 3? Where am I going wrong?

    Thanks again for the help
