How do I sell a private plate privately?

Guys - how do I sell a private plate?

I have the retention document and have paid the assignment fee etc but how do I go about selling it as my name at the mo is a grantee?

It's B3 RDD that's going to go btw

It was the old plate that was relevant to the previous owner - I've got my own on it now - so no need to keep the B3.

    Beard, Barred - I don't know!!

    I'll check out the site

You could either list it on Ebay or get someone to sell it on your behalf, such as regtransfers.co.uk

I just sold H18 OAB to my mate while it was on retention. to transfer it I filled in the V317 and sent it away.. it's in the process of being Transferred (my mate paid for the transfer )

you can sell the plate where ever you like, Ad trader, Auto trader, Street corner as long as the Transfer form is filled int

To transfer a registration mark from one vehicle to another you will need to complete a V317 - Transfering a Vehicle Registration Number application form. Application forms can be obtained from DVLA’s network of local offices. The cost of transfer is £80.

I think you can get a V317 from the Post Office as well, if you have put the plate onto a retention certificate then all you do is pass this over to the new owner to put onto their car.
