    Question uPVC Front Door Costs

    Hi,

    Anyone in know a pal or good company that can supply and fit a decent uPVC door (wood stain oak effect).

    Stay in Paisley, Glasgow, so would need estimate and supply and fittign costs. Door is leaking like mad and the wumin is moaning like mad, but nothing new there....

    Any help is greatly appreceiated from anyone, even if it is just to give me an example of what you ahve fitted and how much it was.

    They are easy to fit yourself - are you sure yuo are not in to DIY?

    If not - try Safestyle - se had one from them and it didnt cost too much.

    As a hint.

    go for internally glazed with a 5 point locking mechanism. If you do get the window company sharks come round ask about the reinforcement in the frame and also the reinforcement in the lower infill panel (these used to be just thin plastic - but newer designs are with a metal mesh wih foam packing - the old ones used to be easy to break in through

    Prices - If you are DIY'ing - B&Q or Screwfix - about £250 all-in

    If you are getting someone in to do it £350-£400

    Sorry didn't realise it was the wrong forum......

    Thanks for the advice Kitchpoo, will cost it up through B&Q and screwfix etc and see what the best option is... Coudl do the installetion myself with some help from the family and friends.

    I have fitted a B&Q front door to our house - it was really simple - ensure it comes with the frame as this makes life really easy.

    You will need a pack of fischer bolts and preferably the use of an SDS Hammer drill with the correct drill bit to go with the fischer bolts. You want 110mm bolts for a secure fixing and is recommended you fit 3 to each side and 2 to the head.

    Right trip to B&Q and Hie shop it is to cost it up.... Had Everest round the other day, they wanted £1500 notes Long jump off a short peir sprang to mind...
