Over the last 2 evenings I have given the Astra a good going over. Everything is now in great running order, drives nice and smooth
First up was a service as it was due one 3,000 miles ago !
I carried out the service in the garage, I was going to take it to Vaux but I couldnt justify speding all the extra money on getting a pikey Vaux mech to put all the bits on that I could do at home for free
Parts changed Oil, Oil Filter, Petrol Filter, Pollen Filter, Coolant, Wiper Blades, RCL Keyfob Battery
Also had a new cambelt and roller kit fitted as the car is approching 60,000 miles.
Gave the engine a good clean, removed the rocker cover, cleaned the cover itself and the gasket, the gasket is very new so shouldnt need replacing.
Polished the Manifold Heatshield which actually turned out pretty good
Removed the HT Leads and Sparkplugs, gave them a good clean and checked the spacing. Checked all correct fuses had been used for each circuit.
I also drilled a few extra holes in the air intake pipe from the front of the car.
Also, painted the front and rear callipers a nice hammerite gold, looks pretty neat, was going to paint the disk bells but i think i will be replacing the disks soon as they are a bit worn
Heres a few progress pics
