ok i am unsure what to do!! my car went for its MOT today to the two rear tyres are getting wore (2mm left on each) they passed it but obviously they will need changing soon at a cost of around £100!!
but i want some alloys now i can't really afford the alloys at the mo but don't really want to put two new tyres on as in the summer i will definatly be getting a set of alloys so i am thinking of stretching the financies slightly and getting a set of rims
i could just about squeeze £500 out of my overdraft which should be plenty!!
i have been looking at wolfrace katanya's (spelling) and have found them brand new on ebay for £500!!
i need to know what size tyre to go for
now i want to keep the rolling radus as close to standard as possible! and want 17's as the rubber is slightly cheaper come tyre change time!! i also want to lower the car at a later date so that needs to be considered and i dont want a rubber band for a tyre either!!!!
one final thing i want them for overall performance as well as looks and i only have a 1.6 so dont want them to slow the car down to much!!
below is list of new tyre sizes and how much difference there is in the rolling radus from standard (195/60/15)
205/40/17 come up about 3% smaller than standard
215/40/17 come up about 1.8% smaller than standard
205/45/17 come up about 0.2% bigger than standard
215?45/17 come up about 1.7% bigger than standard
which size would you suggest?? 205/45/17 look the obvious choice but all the tyre packages i've seen so far come with 205/40/17 so will it cost alot more to get 205/45/17
would it be better to go for the 215 option as there is a bit more width for grip??
one final question
wolfrace katanya's are 7" wide so what would be the ideal trye for this width anyway, will 215 even fit??
really sorry for the long post just wanted to get everything in, in one go!!
