Unhappy Insurance Claim Advice Needed... just accidentally dropped my £500 DigiCam!

I've just dropped my DigiCam worth about £500. It was a complete accident but the lens is cracked and doesn't retract etc.

Has anybody got any advice of what to say to our home insurance firm so I can try to claim?

I bought it off eBay from a Hong Kong seller and have no official receipt. I don't want to say the wrong thing and invalidate a claim.

All help will be really appreciated.

    just tell them the truth.

If you dropped it in the house no pros, if you dropped it out and about that may be a another matter depending on your policy.

Yeah it was in the house... happened a bit like the Peter Kay biscuit scene... in slow motion.

Only thing i'm worried about them asking for is the receipt... does anyone know if it is needed? Surely not?

If you've got the box, and stuff, you have to usually "prove" you own it, not found it in the street and brought it home broken
The box is usually enough for most companies, or original doc's, etc?
