    Unhappy 2.2 Mpg

    Hi,

I'm a little concerned that my 2.2 coupe is as good on juice as it should be.

Firstly when I bought the car I was getting around 34 - 36 mpg with a mixture of around the doors and motorway, on a steady run on the motorway I was getting 38 - 40mpg, however all has changed after only 8500 miles, I now bearly manage 31 - 32 mixture of round the doors and motroway and 35 - 36 steady on the motorway, ??confussed??

The car is on 56k now, its got full service history and TBH is due a service, would this make the difference in MPG?

What kinda mpg do you guys get on your 2.2's?

    Thanks in advance
    G

Yeah, get it serviced mate, could make all the difference.

But for a 2.2 anything over 32 is pretty good, my Mk5 1.8sri only returns 31 - 32, my coupe 21-23, goes up to 32 on the motorway with a light foot otherwise it`s about 26.

I mainly average around 30-31 in the Coupe(Turbo) but since changing to my new job - that has come crashing down to around 26 - simply because i don't have to travel as far - so mainly A-roads and sometimes a short spurt on the motorway - no real mileage. - 30miles a day there and back - next to nothing.

Check your tyre pressures. Soft tyres kill fuel efficiency.

The 2.2 is quite thirsty, but running it on BP Ultimate gives better economy.
