if you got that dvla letter then its not your problem,

if you didnt have the letter then its still yours.

how you kept it, i keep the letters from dvla for just over a year, best to be safe nowadays.

beats me cos i would have thought the hpi would have picked this up when the guy i sold it to hpi it.when i bought the bike i never thought to hpi it the finace company as given me 14 days to reply.i think we can prove we paid cash and finace company must know who took and when they took finace on it

HPi is not always 100% fool proof/upto date.
Your best bet is to contact the finance company in question and explain to them that the finance was not taken out by yourself (they should know who it was taken out by if it was in them), explain that you are no longer the registered keeper and have the letter from the DVLA to prove this......if the guy that bought the bike HPi's it and it showed nothing at the time then he needs to get back in touch with HPi regarding this.

I would also question the finance with HPI themselves.

With my Astra it said there "may" be finance still on the car. Not much use to me saying it "may" have finance when I have paid £40 to get a definite answer either way. Turns out that if a car used to have a private plate thats now on another vehicle, sometimes if the new vechicle with the private plate has finance to be paid off, it will flag the older car.

Get in contact with HPI themselves, they did whatever they could to help me when I got the vague answer above. Well worth £40 if you ask me
