I agree David Blunkett was a good at his job yep he slipped up at times but no need to resign.

The downfall of labour is getting closer.

IMO not good for the working man, but tbh we aint got much to choose from have we, there all pretty much a dam liability

This crazy human rights law and europe are our main cause of this. The human right act was set up in good intention and is being abused from illegal imagrants to no win no fee lawyers.

Good riddance, the guy was a useless paranoid IMO. Hopefully with his going his stupid ID card idea will fizzle out.

I've got enough ID to prove who I am - so why do I need to pay £100 pounds every 10 years to get an ID card. It's the present system that needs to tighten up - not a new system. Those who are determined enough will circumvent any system given time

As I work for the government (albeit local), I see, day by day, a move towards a mass information gathering programme on the public, with various bits of insidious legislation brought in by this Government, of which the biometric ID card is the cornerstone.

Believe me - George Orwell was right - he just got the year wrong.

I too work for the local goverment and deal with CCTV and survalance and getting a sound and legit I.D is difficult I agree with I.D cards if you have nowt to hide there shouldnt be any problem with holding one. Yep issuing charges are problem and the i.d cards did need refining. But in all a good idea

the guy basically made a complete hash of everything he touched. we really need less arrogant out of touch people like this in parlement. good riddance

only good idea he had was ID cards, but his plan was completlely bizzar, why couldn't we just adopt the system they use all across europe, why do they allways think they can reinvent the wheel here in Britain?
