    speaker set up for below the £500 mark

    Right I pretty much need to replace the amp and sub as the are shot and so are the standard speakers.

    I need a new set of components for the front, a new amp, to power 2 12"'s or a good single 12" sub. as for the rear I will leave it to your discresion. what do you guys recomend.

    And Im after a sound for personal enjoyment not to compete against others in the spl stakes.

    Audiobhan have good components or you could try the Maystar components, they are cheaper but sound great.

    I highly rate the Vibe space subs guaranteed to get your bones shaking

    Depends really how close you what to go to the £500 mark.....

    For excellent SQ speakers: the Genesis A16 @ approx £150 are excellent, Crystal has a good range £150 to £200, Focal have excellent stuff and DLS have the PS and R6A components also in the £150-£200 range, Boston the FS series and ALpine the Type R and SPS stuff.

    As for an amp and Sub/s i assume that if you want to power two subs then you also need the two subs which will kind of limit your budget for components. IMHO you would be better off getting a single 12" sub and a good amp for SQ, than 2x12" subs and a amp. For subs look at the likes of the Alpine, RE, Rockford, JL audio, PG, Audiobahn and for amps the Alpine M series mono amps will power it nicely as will the JL Audio E series mono amps, PG octane stuff, Rockford Fosgate and MTX.

    The list to choose from is large but when you get it all try and get it all in one and see if you will get a discount. Also try and audition the stuff before buying you will be suprised just how much it can influence your decision. Most decent place will let you audition the stuff and should give you a better price.

    For rear stick with the standard speakers as they are rear fill anyway and the standard speakers will be fine for this.

    Brett, have a chat to Andy (he is difficult to get hold of, but speak to him and tell him I sent ya, and he will sort you out a good price) at www.Cel-Direct.com .

    I got a Genesis Profile Four amp, and a 12" JL Audio sub, great combination.

    Picked up both second hand but as new for £200.

    (False floor is now stepped to clear the sub)

    And I have used CEL-Direct quite a few times over the years, very good service.

    DLS January deal

    Swedish company DLS are going to be doing a cracking deal in mid January 2005. It will comprise of B6 components and equivilent 12" sub with their CA31 3 channel amplifier. The standard RRP for above is £525 but most decent DLS dealers will be doing it for £499 fully fitted with sub box and all wiring etc;

    A cracking deal with reputable quality equipment too
