    Personalised Plates

    if you want a private plate and it is not avaliable is there ant way you can find out who owns the plate to make an offer for it.

    Think the DVLA would know, but doubt they would give you the info TBH ??

    I understood that you can get details of owners from the DVLA, but you must have a very good reason for asking.

    Such as hit and run, accidents, maybe asking for a witness.

    You can find out what car it's on via RAC website.

    it would be a very long shot at getting a plate. i would just settle for something similar.

    The DVLA won't give you any details, if it's for an accident etc they will tell you to contact the police. We phoned them and asked them to tell us who a car was registered to because we thought a sales rep had registered a car in his own name instead of the companies as we hadn't received a log book, which he had and promptly got sacked, but they wouldn't tell us even tho we had proof we owned for the car.
