    It's all in the balance.

Has your mate got amped components up front to provide mid and high ?
AdamSXI has 3 subs in his boot, although I have'nt heard his system yet.

Also depending on what you listen to, depends on the size of sub you'll need.
Generally 10" are punchier bass, 12" all rounder, 15" deep bass.

i listen to mostly rnb rap, got a full JBL speaker system, ma mate jus has standard volkswagon speakers but an amp powering his subs.
Im after a puchier bass rather than deep. Is 3 10's costly? all i would need is sub and amps as iom happy with my speaker system, or wud i need an amp for them 2 as im powerin em off my headunit right now

well thats why the bass is drowning out the mid and treble!

    Just curious, why 3?

iom happy with my speaker system, or wud i need an amp for them 2 as im powerin em off my headunit right now
Your not getting the best out of your speakers by having them wired up to your Head Unit. Your Head Unit will probably be around 50W x 4 if its an aftermarket one (Which Head Unit have you got?) or less otherwise. That only about 20-25W RMS...
I'm sure the JBL's can handle much more than that. So yes, amping them would be better.

    Is 3 10's costly?
All depneds on what you need/want... Have you got a budget?

If you have, let us know and we'll chuck you some suggestions on setup's.

    why 3? it jus seems right, like 2 12s and 1 15. i think 2 10's wudnt b gud enuf.
I never thought of gettin an amo to run speakers, i have a kenwood headunit it was 200 quid.
i have about 250 quid to spend on the subs, then upto 300 for an amp for the subs, i think i wud wait abit for the speaker amp coz im happy with what i have

I got one 12" sub in the astra at the moment running 300w RMS and i can tell you it sounds just as good if not better than my m8's setup who's running 2 12" subs. All about quality i say, not quantity.

If it were me i would go for...

JL E6450 6 channel Amp £359.99 on CAD

    and the

    JL 10W3V2D2 10" Sub £159.99 on CAD

You will be able to bridge 2 sets of channels (4 channels) on your amp to run your sub and then have 2 channels left so you can amp your front JBL speakers. JL Audio always underate their RMS figures so you will get more than 300w RMS going to the sub easy...

Should sound pretty wicked and i've only ever heard good stuff about JL Audio stuff. If you want, it's worth asking on www.talkaudio.co.uk cus the people on there really know there stuff.

    Hope thats helped!
